Morning Dew
Key Passage: Matthew 13:31-33
Key text: Matthew 13:31 – “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed”
There are many things on the earth that are so small, yet have incredible power. Take the ants, they seem so insignificant, yet they would march information and attack a dead grasshopper and before long they would completely clear away the carcass of the dead grasshopper. Think about our tongue, it is so small among our members, yet it wields so much power that it can determine the direction of a person’s life. When I was young I loved a particular cartoon series on an ant called Atomic ant. This ant was so small, yet it had so much power, it could conquer anything. It was indestructible.
Seeds are incredibly powerful. The potential in a seed is limitless. Yet they are so small. So insignificant. God has so designed the seed to be so small, yet within each seed is the power of resurrection and multiplication. There is life in every seed. There are trees in every seed and we need to become extra conscious of the seeds in our hands.
In the parable of the sower, Jesus said the sower sows the word. So we know that the word of God is seed. Every promise of God is a seed and if we allow the word to be planted in us, it would produce an incredible harvest. We are born again, by the imperishable seed of the word of God. We are regenerated by the seed of the word of God, because that Seed has in it the power of eternal life.
Human beings are conceived by seed too. The sperms of a man are seeds. They are microscopic, so tiny, yet they have so much power that they eventually fertilize the egg in a woman and the product of this miracle is another human being.
Today’s passage tells us that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest among seeds, yet when it is planted it grows up and becomes bigger than all the herbs and the birds of the air come and nest in its branches. Jesus wanted us to know that what looks like nothing is actually so great.
There is a seed for every need in your life. If you can find that seed in God’s word, and you are faithful to plant it into your heart, it would create in you the Kingdom of heaven and the Kingdom of heaven within you will cause the manifestation of that promise in your life.
I want to repeat myself today, that God is totally seed minded. And His method of changing anything is to send a seed. He sends His word. He sent His Word and changed the destiny of mankind. He sent Jesus, THE WORD, and with this SEED, He has completely overturned the dominion of Satan and redeemed man.
What will happen if you choose today to start sowing the little seeds of God’s promises into the soil of your heart?
Let’s Pray – Father God, please make me a seed minded person. Let me recognise the seeds you have given me and what their potentials are, even if they look so insignificant at the moment. Also Lord, help me to dig into your word to find seeds that will meet my needs. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
