Have you ever been away from someone you love for such a long time that you miss him or her so deeply? You want to hear from them. You want even more to see them and talk to them face to face. It’s amazing how people’s faces seem to grow dim when you are so far from them. You even start losing that unique sense of their presence, the smells, the looks, and the touch. Nothing will satisfy until you get them in your arms again and hug them, then everything comes flooding right back.

Throughout the scriptures, there seems to be a recurring theme of the God of love seeking His people wooing them back to His embrace and presence. Also on the other hand lovers of God getting love-sick and feeling lost without Him and abandoning everything just to go and seek Him.

Looking at this portion of scripture this morning, one can only wonder what led to these words being penned. Let’s look at Psalm 63(NKJV)

Joy in the Fellowship of God

A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

1 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You;

My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.

3 Because Your loving kindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.

4 Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.

7 Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

These words are self-explanatory. David pinned for God. David yearned almost agonised for God’s presence, that he hardly slept and before dawn he got up to seek His face.

This morning I woke up with this feeling. I just want to see Jesus. Spend time with Him. Love on Him. Hold Him, Worship Him. Adore Him. Gaze into His face. Feel His touch. Sing to Him. Talk with Him. Rest on His chest. Pour out my heart to Him. Hear His voice. See His beautiful face. In short be with Him.

I have been with Him this morning. And Oh!! What exhilaration! What joy! What Peace! What splendour! What beauty! His presence lingers… Have you? I want to be with Him again and again and again. Nothing really compares. Nothing really makes that much sense without Him. His presence is everything.

I wonder if He is not extending an invitation to you this morning to step aside from your busyness and spend some time with Him. I wonder if he wants to show you His face all over again.

Seek His Face. Go on do it now!

I found this song captures my heart this morning. Enjoy!

  1. May we appreciate God Almighty for who he is. May we not seek him alone in our desperation. I adore, exalt and appreciate you Jesus for who you are to me. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice. Thank you Pastor Charles for your words of encouragement.
