Day 6: The Light of the World
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’” – John 8:12 (NKJV)

Anecdote:
As a child, Emma often feared the dark. She would wake up at night, feeling lost in the overwhelming blackness of her room. One Christmas, her parents gifted her a small lamp with a soft, warm glow. From then on, the darkness no longer frightened her. The light didn’t just dispel the shadows—it brought her a sense of peace and safety.
In a world filled with uncertainties and challenges, Jesus, the Light of the World, offers us that same peace, guiding us through life’s darkest moments.
Defining the Name:
When Jesus called Himself the Light of the World, He declared His role as the one who brings clarity, hope, and truth to a world shrouded in sin and confusion. Light represents life, purity, and direction. Jesus not only exposes the darkness but also leads us into a relationship with God, illuminating the path to eternal life.
Application to Our Lives:
In a world where we often stumble through uncertainty, Jesus invites us to follow Him and live in His light. Reflect on areas in your life where you feel lost or burdened. Instead of trying to find your way on your own, surrender those areas to Jesus and let His light guide you.
This year, make it your goal to walk in the light. Spend time in His Word, which is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Let His truth shape your decisions and His presence dispel any fears or doubts.
Prayer for Revelation:
Dear Lord, thank You for being the Light of the World. Shine into the dark places of my life and guide me on the path You have prepared. Teach me to follow You faithfully, trusting in Your light to lead me each day. Help me reflect Your light to others, that they too may find hope and clarity in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
