Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

By a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet he was preserved. Hosea 12:13

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3

So Jesus answered and said to them, “ Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11: 22-23.

Fellow Nigerians and Friends of Nigeria Worldwide,

I am convinced that the best days of Nigeria are not behind Her but ahead of Her. These elections are only part of a larger plan God has been working out concerning this nation and we can all be assured of one thing, God always accomplishes His vision. He is both the Author and Finisher. Nigeria is not a conception of any man, though God used men to create the nation, God clearly rules and reigns in the affairs of men and nations. So as we go to the polls this weekend, please do not despair. This country will not fall or fail. This country will move on and become greater still. Can I ask you to join me in proclaiming good over this nation? I know it may appear simplistic, but the word of God clearly says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. This tells me that what we say is important and can be for good or bad.

I believe that if we all speak good to Nigeria, by the power vested by God in our words, Nigeria will turn and become a greater nation.

God gave me a perspective that completely blew my mind about Nigeria. I saw the nations from the heavens and a lot of so-called first world an advanced nations were in serious darkness. There were only small specks of light in these nations, but Nigeria from heaven’s perspective is a well-lit nation with large swathes of the country flooded with light! This is not natural light, but the True Light. The Light of God. So I am greatly encouraged by this and believe that Nigeria is somehow moving towards greatness and the issues confronting us today are just part of our growth pains and part of the process of us developing as a nation. Nigeria is destined by God for greatness. Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us.

Please join me in proclaiming these statements daily for as long as God gives you the grace and let’s see what God will do with our words.

  • God has a plan for Nigeria, it is a plan of good and not evil, to give us a hope and a future. Nigeria has a great and prosperous future!
  • I thank God that I am a Nigerian. God did not make a mistake making one. I know and trust His judgement.
  • God will extend peace to Nigeria during these elections like a river. There will be no violence in our land. We speak peace to Nigeria. We declare peaceful elections and we declare fair elections.
  • Nigeria will arise and shine and the glory of God will be seen upon us!
  • Let God arise over Nigeria and let His enemies and our enemies be scattered.
  • Nigerians will eat the fruit of Nigeria and foreigners will not cart away our fruit.
  • All Nigerians will know the peace and prosperity of God. All Nigerians will experience a lifting up.
  • Nigeria will be led by the righteous and just and equitable leaders.
  • Nigerians will dwell together in unity and God will command His blessings upon us!
  • Affliction shall not arise a second time. We will not go to war and we will not disintegrate.
  • There will be great rejoicing in our land and in our tents and in our homes.
  • We will be a celebrated nation. No longer shall we be scorned and despised, but we will be respected and celebrated. Nigeria will take Her place in the world and among the nations.
  • Nigeria will not fail!
  • Nigeria will boom! Our economy will boom. Our industries will boom. Our education system will boom. Our healthcare system will boom. Nigeria will boom!!!
  • The youth of Nigeria will find new expressions for their energy in creativity, technology and entrepreneurship.
  • Our youths will love righteousness.
  • They will be full of hope and their hope will not be dashed.
  • Our brightest minds will return and be part of the new Nigeria.
  • Nigeria will be free of corruption. We will have accountable leaders.
  • It is well with Nigeria. It is well with me.

 The Promise

For the mountains shall depart

And the hills be removed,

But My kindness shall not depart from you,

Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”

Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

“O you afflicted one,

Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,

Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,

And lay your foundations with sapphires.

I will make your pinnacles of rubies,

Your gates of crystal,

And all your walls of precious stones.

All your children shall be taught by the Lord,

And great shall be the peace of your children.

In righteousness you shall be established;

You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;

And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.

Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.

“Behold, I have created the blacksmith

Who blows the coals in the fire,

Who brings forth an instrument for his work;

And I have created the spoiler to destroy.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,

And every tongue which rises against you in judgment

You shall condemn.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

And their righteousness is from Me,”

Says the Lord

Isaiah 54:10 – end

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace. Amen and Amen.

God can unscramble a scrambled egg!

Morning Dew

Key Passage: Isaiah 61

Key Word: Isaiah 61:3 – ‘Beauty for Ashes’

scrambled-eggs

When we were being taught about witnessing our faith to those who do not know Jesus Christ, we were told to ask some diagnostic questions. If there were objections to these questions, we were then asked to give a simple illustration. This illustration focuses on eggs. So here it goes. On a Sunday morning you are about to prepare breakfast for yourself and family. You bring out a dozen fresh eggs and start cracking them into a bowl, after cracking 11 eggs you thought to yourself what’s the use of keeping only one egg. I might as well crack this one too and make the breakfast just a bit more. As you crack the egg into the bowl with the other eleven eggs, you perceive this horrible, acrid odour as only bad eggs can smell. It’s too late to stop the egg falling into the other eleven. What do you do? How do you rescue your breakfast. Do you just mix the bad one with the good eleven and hope the good eggs cover the bad one. If you have never experienced this before, then don’t try. The eggs are all ruined and there is no remedy. This is what sin does and with this illustration we tell people that if you have done a million things right in your life and your did one wrong thing, then the other million acts are ruined.

The moral is that you cannot say you have not sinned and if you have sinned then you know everything is ruined and you need God’s solution to fix the mess.

But today, I really want to talk about eggs from another perspective. How many of you love scrambled eggs. Once eggs are scrambled, there is no way of putting the eggs back together again. A scrambled egg is scrambled. No way to unscramble it. Or is there a way?

Some lives are like scrambled eggs. They have gotten into so many intricately woven, mixed up, and confusing situations, that they cannot make head from tail in their lives. They have made a mess of their lives and they are in a hopeless and helpless situation and cannot see the way out. It could be relationships, marriage, money, debts, work related, health or even in education. Truly, some may even be in these situations through no fault of theirs. For them it looks like a scrambled egg.

But I have come to announce to you today that there is a God who can unscramble a scrambled egg. He can put it all together again, because He knows every piece of the egg and can rebuild it.

Isaiah 61 tells us the following:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.

Once upon a time, the Nation of Israel was scattered and left desolate for close to two thousand years. They were spread to the four corners of the world and the nation ceased to exist. Coupled with this, the Jews became the persecuted race and the Nazis tried to annihilate them by killing millions of Jews in the concentration camps and pogroms of the second world-war. It looked like a scrambled egg. A big mess. An irredeemable, irreparable, disaster. It looked like it was over for all of the dreams of a people and their nation.

But God had already sent a prophet years before this happened to let them know that He would put the nation back together again. In Ezekiel 37, we read of the valley of dry bones. God had taken the Prophet Ezekiel into this valley that looked like an abandoned cemetery, full of heaps of dry bones, scattered all over the place and then God asked him, can these bones live? Can your ruined life be rebuilt? Can your dashed hopes be restored? Can your failed marriage be restored? Can your crashed business be rebuilt? Maybe you are at rock bottom, can you rise again?

After a few banters, God told the prophet to prophesy to the bones to live. As he began, the cemetery came alive. Dry bones began moving and connecting with bones and soon the cemetery was full of skeletons, then the prophet prophesied some more and the sinews and muscles came of the bones, then skin, but they were still not living. Then He prophesied again and wind came from the four corners of the world and breath entered the dead bodies and they rose up as a mighty army.

This picture is how God restored the people and nation of Israel and in 1948 Israel became a nation once again from being scattered to the four corners of the world and almost annihilated for 2000 years, God caused the nation to be re-born and the people to return as it were from the four corners of the earth. What an awesome God we serve! The God of Israel is God.

This is why Jesus came. To rebuild the wrecked lives. To restore the displaced. To heal those who are sick and diseased. To bring hope to the hopeless.

So hear me. If God can restore Israel and unscramble the scrambled egg for them, He can restore your life. It does not matter how big your mess is. How bad your condition is, how scrambled your egg is, God can unscramble it. All you need to do is trust Him by throwing yourself on His mercy and allow Him to take over and raise you back up.

So today like the Prophet Ezekiel, I prophesy to everyone reading this blog. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, All your mess, will become a great message from God. All your ruins will be rebuilt and restored. All dead dreams and visions will come back to life. Every confusion will be cleared up in Jesus Name. You will not be a failure, God will make you a resounding success. You will not die, but live to proclaim the goodness of the Lord. Your best days are ahead of you. Though men have written you off and left you for dead. God is coming to raise you up and make a great story out of your life.

I am excited for you. God who can unscramble a scrambled egg will perfect that which concerns you in Jesus name.

I feel I must tell someone something right now. You feel your life is over. You have messed up so much, there is no way out. You are convinced the only logical thing to do is end your life. Stop. Stop right now and hear the word of God. God is ready to lift you up and restore your life. Just throw yourself on His mercy. Ask Jesus to come and help you and watch Him restore your life.

By the way if you had cracked the last egg and you now have a great stink around you, God knows exactly how to remove the bad egg and restore your breakfast. The breakfast is not ruined if God is involved.

God has the last word, not your circumstances. Not what people say about you. Not what you did wrong. God through Jesus Christ will have the final word in your life.

Let’s Pray: Father God, today we are in need of your power to unscramble the scrambled eggs in our lives. Lord, I have messed up. I have ruined my life. Please help me. I cannot do it on my own. I do not know the way out. Please help me and turn my life around again. In Jesus name. Amen

God is Father Forever and Ever

Morning Dew

Key Passage– 1 Chronicles 29

Key Text – 1 Chronicles 29:10 – “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.”

Surprise Lily flowers with dew drops

It’s amazing how you think you understand and have grasped something for ages and then suddenly another aspect pops up at you. Honestly we must never get to the place where we think we have sourced out everything and we stop learning. Knowledge is dynamic and what we knew twenty years ago is in some instances completely irrelevant today. Just over 25 years ago, I got exposed to the computer properly in the UK. I went to learn how to use the MSDOS programme and thought I was cool. Then in a matter of a few years, possible two or three, I found myself working in an environment where I had to use the apple macs, and my MSDOS knowledge became obsolete instantly. I never needed that knowledge again. It was windows and drop down menus, mouses and control buttons. Thank God for grace to learn new things.

A few days ago, I was reading my bible and I saw something I had read many times, but just never acknowledged. I had thought I knew why David was a man after God’s heart. I certainly guessed it was His heart of worship, or his heart for justice. Sometimes I thought it was his vulnerability for God, his courage, his tenderness towards God and his ability to obey God. All these I still believe are true and may all be part of why God so uniquely qualified him as ‘a man after His own heart’.

But permit me to add one more to the mix today. In 1 Chronicles 29, we read of David’s provision for the Temple of God in Jerusalem. His generous giving, followed by the equally generous giving of the leaders and people of Israel for this building project. Then David prayed and blessed the Lord in verse 10, he said something I have read many times, but never got the import of it.

He said “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.”

What? Our Father, forever and ever? How did he get that? In the Old Testament, the concept of God as Father was not commonly known. There are references to Him as Father and some of the prophets clearly prophesied the Fatherhood of God and many analogies and illustrations of God’s Fatherhood but there are not many that personally referred to Him as Father and had a Father son relationship with Him. I believe David did. He knew God as His Father and in this scripture, he revealed that God was His Father for all eternity. Psalm 27:10 is a pointer to this – “When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me”. Also Psalm 68:5 echoes the same thought. “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.”

One would never really know how David came to know God as His Father, but people have guessed that it was because he was not particularly favoured by his father and that he did not really enjoy his mother’s love, that drove him to become such a passionate lover of God. Whatever it was, David knew God as his Father and this is powerful. My guess David connected with the Son and through this He knew the Father. Psalm 89, Psalm 110 all point to this fact.

Do you know that one of the major tasks of Jesus was to bring to the world a fresh understanding of the Fatherhood of God? He introduced God as Father to all who would care to listen. Knowing God as Father is possibly the ultimate revelation for anyone on the face of the earth. Because all of God’s actions can best be understood from this perspective of Him being our Father. If you can read John 17, you will see that Jesus spoke about revealing and manifesting God’s name to His disciples. What was this name? Father, Daddy.

Knowing God as your Father is very liberating and reassuring. First you know He loves you totally. Nothing can ever stop Him from loving you. Secondly, You know He cares for you. God’s care is total. Thirdly, you know He is in absolute control. Think for a moment about the creator of the universe, the creator of heaven and earth, the owner of everything. The All Powerful, All Knowing, All Present God is your Father and mine. WOW! He is in absolute control of this life we live and will get the very best of for us. I am totally blown away by the Fatherhood of God in my life. Lastly, He is Father forever and ever. He will never leave you nor forsake you. You will never be without a Father. He will always be present and there for you! WOW WOW!

How do you get to know God as Father? Jesus said it simply in John 14:16 “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

If you want to know God as Father, then you must know Jesus as His Son and accept Him as the only way to know God as the Father. It is that simple. Jesus is the only connection to God as Father. You cannot access the Fatherhood of God without acknowledging the Sonship and Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Without this you can never understand His love for you, His mercy, His grace, His provision and His plan to have His children with Him in eternity.

Knowing Him as Father releases sonship in you. Sonship in you qualifies you for all the privileges of the Kingdom of God; these are so many that It would have to be treated some other day.

Today, just like David, open your heart and mind and consider the revelation of God as your Father forever and ever and then simply connect with Him, by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let’s Pray: Father God, today help me to reconnect with you. I acknowledge the sonship of Jesus Christ and confess Him as my Lord and Personal saviour. I believe that He died for me on the cross and rose from the dead. Please change my heart and let me know You as my Father, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

God’s One-Stop ‘Shop’

Morning Dew

Key Text: Matthew 11:28-30

Key Word: “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest …….and you will find rest for your souls.”

Have you ever heard of a one-stop shop? I’m sure you have. There are many organisations that claim all you need to do is come to them and all your car, furniture, building, health, family, medical or whatever needs, will be met. The truth is, in my experience there has never been a truly one stop shop that has totally met all my so called needs.

But the concept is not at all bad and actually a desirable one. I wish there were truly one-stop shops for some of these things and we do not need many people to help solve our problems. But today, I want to introduce you to a TRUE ONE STOP SHOP, for all the needs, I mean real needs of man. If God is all-powerful, then there is nothing He cannot do. The scriptures tell us that God made all His fullness dwell in Jesus Christ bodily. So when you meet Jesus, you meet all that God is and all that God will do.

God endowed Jesus Christ with all the solutions for humanity. He has the answer to all man’s problems and is more than willing to dispense them. In my understanding according to the scriptures, all that ails mankind has been dealt with, healed and provided for full in Jesus Christ.

When you come to Jesus, you have come to the solution for all life’s problems. Is it health? He is the healer! Is it relationships? He is the restorer of broken hearts! Is it financial? He is the provider? Is it sin? He is the sin remover? Is it addiction? He is the deliverer who has come to set the captives free! Is it assurance of eternity? He is the saviour and in Him, eternal life is guaranteed! Is it pain? He bore our pains! Is it death? He is the giver of life! He is the resurrection and the life. Are you lost? He is the Shepherd who will lead you! Are you blind? He is the light of the world! What is it that ails you? Jesus Christ of Nazareth is God’s one stop shop to fix it!

Now the most amazing thing about this incredible provision of God, this one stop, one-man solution, is that is absolutely Free to you and I. We do not need any money to buy these solutions. We do not need any special passes to access these blessings. All we need is our faith. We are just to believe. Wow! Free, yes Free. It cost us nothing. Absolutely nothing, just believe.

Finally, Jesus is fully willing to help anyone who comes to Him. He has never turned back anyone and He has never disappointed anyone. He has promised that all who put their trust in Him will never be put to shame. Once you come to Jesus, you need never go to anyone else. This is the bus-stop. This is the last station. This is where it all ends. This is where all the answers are. In HIM.

God has made life simple. He has provided one source and only one source for you and I to access all He has for us. It is in the person of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. So come to Jesus today and I can promise you, He has all the solutions to all your problems and He is more than willing to help you and He will help you for nothing. No cost, because He had already paid for it for you to receive it.

Now what are you waiting for?

Let’s Pray: Father God, I want to thank you for making life simple. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ as the single solution to all of my problems. Today I reach out to Jesus for the solution to my problem and I believe I have the solution. In Jesus name. Amen.

Let’s talk about Kings.

Morning Dew

Key Passage: Psalm 2

Key Text: Psalm 2:6 – “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion”

Let’s talk about Kings.

I like kings. I love everything to do with royalty. The pomp, pageantry, circumstance. I like the glory, the protocols, the courts, the palaces, the grandeur, and the splendour. I like kings. They mostly are men of honour and dignity. They also mostly exhibit a level of grace and respect for people that I find quite intriguing. Sometimes I find myself wishing for more kings in the earth. I love kings, perhaps because I was brought up in a palace and had some exposure to royalty. Perhaps, but maybe my love just stems from the simple fact that deep in every one is a royal streak and mine is just stirred when I come in touch with them. Not all kings are good or great and not all royalty is worthy of celebration, but this is not my focus today.

Kings are not like politicians. They do not have a short-term view of leadership or rulership. They are not in it for any personal gain or personal aggrandisement. They are not striving for some quick wins that would make them popular. They genuinely live for their people and for their realm. They want their people to be better. They care for their welfare and love to see their realms and nations prosper. I love kings.

Consider the Royal family in England. The Queen. The Princes. The old kings and queens. They all lived and live to see England prosper and flourish. They are there for the long haul. They are institutions of stability and welfare. They live for the people and for their realm. Consider the king of Dubai. The King of Saudi Arabia. The King of Jordan. The King of Monaco. The kings of Europe. They are all examples of this same special something they all possess.

In Nigeria, we have some kings and I personally have a few as friends. They are mostly good men, with large hearts and a deep sense of justice and love for their people and their realm. I have not met one who did not care deeply for his people and genuinely desire for their realms to be vastly improved.

But there is one quality that marks kings as great leaders and it is this unique thing that every godly king, every real genuine king will do without thinking twice. When their people or their realm is threatened, the king takes this on as a personal assignment and would gladly sacrifice his life for the sake of his people and his realm. Kings recognise that they exist for their people and their realms and so would put themselves on the line to save their people and their realms. Kings know that their lives are inextricably linked with the lives of their people and their realm. This is why kings go to war. This is why the princes in England were not happy when they were not out there on the front-lines defending their realms. I love kings. This is why the king of Jordan donned his military gear and went to war against terrorists, when a pilot from his nation was killed. Kings are special people.

But there is one King that eclipses all other kings. In Glory, in pomp, pageantry and circumstance. In wealth, authority and power. He is infinitely greater than the greatest kings. Wiser than the wisest monarch. He is supremely superior, yet at the same time the most humble King ever. There is one Royal of all royals. He is called the King of kings and Lord of all lords. He is totally committed to His people. He loves everyone of them so deeply and equally and with a perfect love. He ensures that every member of His realm is personally looked after. In actual fact all His subjects are princes and princesses in His kingdom. He personally assigns guards to all His subjects and ensures that they are well resourced. His is called the Great King.

This King lives in a foreign realm, but when one of his colonies was threatened, He left all the comforts of His great realm and travelled to this colony. He became a citizen of the colony and took on the enemy of the colony as a single individual. He fought the adversary and died for His subjects in the colony. He gave His life as a ransom for these subjects. He died that they may live. He defeated their enemy and paid with His life.

This is a King like no other. He is the King of the universe, The King of Glory, The King of Righteousness, The King of Love. He is the King of love. He loved us so much that He died for us. All kings need Him. All kings will serve Him. Do you know this King? Let me introduce you to my King. King Jesus. The King of Jerusalem. The King of Israel. The King of the Nations. The King of the Universe.

I love my KING! I love King Jesus.

Let’s Pray: Father God let my eyes behold the beauty of the Great King!
