Illuminating the Menorah
The Menorah serves as a lampstand, designed to be lit and illuminate the Holy Place of the Tabernacle. In Isaiah 11:2, the Prophet foretold that the Messiah would embody seven attributes of the Holy Spirit, referred to as “Spirits.” Over the past few days, we have delved into these attributes: the Spirit of the Lord, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and the Fear of the Lord. Today, let’s bring this exploration home.

In our present time, God does not dwell in a tabernacle made by human hands. Through Jesus, who had the Spirit without measure, we see the declaration: “I am the Light of the World.” If I may suggest, the Menorah symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Jesus embodied the Menorah of God, which is why He proclaimed, “I am the Light of the World.” He also said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the World.” So, what occurred when Jesus ascended? He instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father—the Holy Spirit.

It is no surprise that on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit arrived like tongues of fire upon each of the 120 disciples in the upper room. He came to ignite them and transform them into new Menorahs. Remember, the Menorah was situated in the Holy Place. Today, God dwells in human temples—our hearts—setting them ablaze through the Holy Spirit. This empowerment allows us to bear witness to the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, we are the light of the world. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
Proverbs 20:27 states, “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart.”

Our spirits are now the lampstands of the Lord. When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, this lamp is lit within us. The seven branches of the Menorah illuminate our inner beings, making us God’s light bearers in a darkened world. We carry the True Light that gives light to all men, which is why we are called to preach the gospel and lead others to repentance and a relationship with Him.

Child of God, you are light. You are the light of the world. The world will not know Jesus unless you shine your light.
Another important revelation is that the Menorah has seven branches, with the central branch representing the Spirit of the Lord. The other six branches are paired: Wisdom and Understanding, Counsel and Might, Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord. The only unpaired branch is the central one—the Spirit of the Lord! All six other branches lean towards this central branch, emphasizing the Lordship of Christ. The manifestations of the Holy Spirit are intended to point us to Jesus. As Jesus said in John 16:13-15, 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He [c]will take of Mine and declare it to you.
Can you see? The Holy Spirit comes to reveal Christ in us and help us share Him with others.
I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to light up your Menorah daily with the seven manifestations of the Messiah. This practice, taught to me by my Ghanaian pastor friend, revolutionized my prayer life and has kept me on fire for nearly thirty years. The Bible says, “Ask, and you shall be given.” Therefore, each day, I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me with the Spirit of the Lordship of Christ, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and the Fear of the Lord. I proclaim that my spirit is filled with these seven spirits of the Lord, and that my Menorah is lit by the Holy Spirit. I assure you, there will be a remarkable change in your walk and ministry if you commit to this daily prayer.
As the world sinks deeper into darkness, it becomes increasingly critical that we trim our lamps and shine our light. Can you hear? The Bridegroom cometh!
Let’s Pray:
Lord, set my spirit ablaze with the seven manifestations of the Messiah, and make me a living witness to Jesus. Let me be a light to many and lead them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I ask for fresh fire from Pentecost to fall upon me anew. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen.
